Funerals

Funerals of all kinds and unique ceremonies celebrating lives

Trees and Sunlight
If you're planning a funeral and unsure what to say or how to arrange the service, whether at a crematorium, burial ground, or elsewhere (such as a scattering of ashes, or celebration of life) I can help.
You don't have to handle this alone. Whether you need help crafting a eulogy, organising the order of service, or ensuring every aspect is handled with care, I will guide you through each step.
My support includes consultation, writing, and officiating, so you can feel confident that your wishes - and those of your person - are honoured throughout the ceremony.

What do I offer as an independent Funeral Celebrant?

With a comprehensive approach, there are several key steps involved in assisting to create and conduct a meaningful and reflective funeral ceremony.

This outline gives an idea of my involvement in understanding your needs, making plans and tailoring all the details accordingly…

Planning and Initial Arrangements

This is the first step to ensure the service is handled professionally and correctly.
This is a crucial step to gather personal stories, memories, and details for the eulogy and tributes. It is also important to have their input on other aspects of the service.
Based on conversations with family and friends, you can begin to select appropriate poems, readings, and other personal tributes.

Ceremony Content and Logistics

Helping finalise music choice and communicating your selections to the funeral director.
Creating a detailed schedule of events for the service, including the order of any music, readings, and eulogies.
Write the eulogy based on gathered ideas and stories and practice reading it. You may have a friend or family member who wishes to read this.

Final Steps

The Funeral Director will work with you to confirm all arrangements are finalised before the service begins.
This is the final step, where the planned service is performed, including readings, music, and the eulogy.

What do my services as a Funeral Celebrant cost?

My basic fee is £300*, which covers all aspects of planning and preparing for the service, as well as officiating the funeral itself. My services are booked either through direct referral by funeral directors or via personal recommendations.

*Additional costs To minimise my environmental impact, I prefer to work within 20 miles of Reading. I am open to working in different locations, especially when families want to hold a ceremony or celebration of life somewhere meaningful that is farther away. Any additional costs will be highlighted during our conversations.
